First thing set dist as shown in picture.

The start engine and read out camshaft retard setting with a engine capable scanner.
If your dist is turntable and not a locked solid type .
Set camshaft retard as close to 0 degrees - or + as you can get it.
Ever time you move dist you will need to speed engine over 1000 rpms for scanner to reset reading.
Has dist ever been replaced.
If the dist will not turn enough to set camshaft retard to 0.
You may have to remove dist and turn the dist gear 190 degrees to get the proper adjustment.
