'96 Z34 fans won't shut off, no heat...

Tonight i tried to use my heater and the temp gauge got scary close to the overheating mark and air still blew cold. Then after I got home the cooling fans kept running for a good 5 minutes after the car shut off. A couple weeks ago while idling the car overheated and was bubbling out the reservoir. Mechanics told me internal blow in a head gasket. I was wondering if anybody else had something like this happen...or if theres any way it could be anything else...i don't want to tear half the engine apart on a car I can barely stand to drive in the first place...Help!!!
