Re: Window Motor 2001 Ford Windstar

Should have cruised this forum first. Had a drivers side window motor failue, voltage at motor & no action. Drilled rivets out just to find that the entire mechanism was under torque from that hidden clock spring. I had a spare motor from the rear window of my Contour (bought a used assy from e-bay for that one) You can just remove the motor from the motor/gear assy without cutting the door. With the appropriate sized torx socket and a 1/4 drive swivel, the two torx screws can be removed allowing the motor to drop from the gear assy. After motor is removed, the window can be pushed or pulled up & down. The motor from my 96 Contour looked identical except for the electrical connector. The worm screw on the shaft was also identical. Installed the other motor, had to jockey the worm gear into the gear assy and made some leads to adapt to the different wire connector. Installed short 1/4 bolts into previously drilled rivet holes & am back in business.
