Hi all!
The Sultan's FX is one of my earlier mods, together with the equally ambitious 288GTO evoII. both have been duly declared failures, due to my naive thoughts & under-estimation of some very complex issues that arised during the body-chassis fitment. i was trying to do an all opening car concept...
nevertheless, i managed to salvage the important parts from the 1st failure attempt & carry it over to this 2nd try. you can call me stubborn, i just couldn't let it go & admit defeat!
so now i present to you my 2nd attempt on this elusive Sultans' prize, but this time i forgo the all the openings except the engine boot...better luck this time!?
the above pictures was taken from the 1st attempt, which looked ok initially. but when i started to fit the chassis...all hell breaks loose! my mistake was i DID NOT seperate the body mod from the chassis mod clearly. now how do i put it?
simply, all body panels (visible) should be constructed on the body itself & not on the chassis. it's much easier to fit the 2 parts this way (like a OOP kit style), also...the parts fit / accuracy will be better, mistakes can be cover up easily.
next is this ferrari openings are one hell of a complex issue as compared to the older ferraris. in the real car, you'll find that the whole front section tilts up as bonnet, not only a bonnet flat piece. now this has robbed me all the vital areas where the door hinges are supposed to be constructed.
the next killer is the rear boot, again it tilts up to nearly half of the whole rear section. that leaves me with alot of exposed engine bulk areas to conceal. moreover, with the doors opening, i can't construct a proper hinging for the rear bonnet with nothing solid to hinge upon. the roof area being cut out, is too weak without the doors support.
hence...a total failure!
