Looking at the front of the engine at a right angle from either side, look at the coil on plug packs on the valve covers they should look like they are staggered from one bank to the other. The coil pack that is the closest to the front of the engine is Cylinder #1, that row of cylinders (Referred as a "Bank") is the odd numbered bank (Cylinders 1, 3, and 5), the opposite side is the even numbered bank (Cylinders 2, 4, and 6). So if #1 is on the left side bank then Cylinder #3 is the center cylinder on that same bank.
