It's the same size that holds the air cleaner brace to the valve cover. Best example I can think of right now. It's hard to get the bolt it started because it's difficult to reach, lots of pipe wiggling and hand pinching to get everything lined up and not cross thread anything. That hidden bolt also ensures the pipe is IN all the way in the water pump housing and makes a good tight seal! Hope this rambling information helps you more than those Haynes books!
