Ok, wasn't an alternator problem, I broke part of my wire connecting to the fuse box.
But for future reference: A D-series alternator will fit a B-series engine. Only modification other than the belt is you need to take the alternator bracket off and drill out the hole closest to the slide. I just used a 15/32" bit I had and worked perfect. The belt I have does sit the alternator at its max, but the belt is tight. Can't remember the belt size, but won't help unless you have a CTR pulley also.
