Re: 1995 Buick Lesabre won't start

The 1995 model was a wired year with harmonic balancers and the partial changes to OBDII PCM’s. To get the correct balancer, you will more than likely need the VIN number and purchase the balancer @ the dealer. Several combinations were used for the 3x and 18x rings and even though they may look similar, some have a different ring offset. The CKPS will read either one, but he PCM will not get the correct information if the rings have the wrong offset! Many of the “China” made balancers are known to have the wrong offset rings.

In addition, the 1995 CKPS is NOT adjustable and use a dowel pin to locate. Also, the reluctor ring gaps are much wider, so therefore, the gap should not be a problem. Where did you get the balancer and what brand is it? Did you compare the reluctor (3x-18x) rings with the original? You need to check the ring gaps in relation to the hub keyway, for comparison on both balancers!
