He is lying. Unless you used completely incompatible print inks (like if you had to use a hammer to install them 'cause they were made for a different printer) he's full of it. I don't know if you Kiwis have the store Staples (
www.staples.com) but you can get a decent printer for $50 there, if it's on rebate.
