I've been pulled over on two occasions. Once when I was 17 for suspicion of DUI. I was driving a `71 chevy C-10 pickup with really loose steering. The second a speeding ticket for going ten miles over the sugested speed limit to make it up a hill.
I do believe... err I know that many police forces out there profile vehicles they watch you and keep track of what you do. That unsignaled turn you make when a copy screams past you is probly logged somewhere. Mesa and Apache Junction were notorious for it.
My friend another volkswagon enthusiast had the same problems a few of you have. Anytime he was pulled over in AJ his car would be searched, the cop would try and interogate him about 'where he stole the stero equipment.' All the fun stuff you hear about. There's no escaping it.
Yes, it should be cleaned up, they shouldn't treat us all like idiots. But think about it. There are quite a few kids out there that think they can road race because some video game or family member described or showed them in detail to do some trick. And then they wonder why it didn't work out when they're getting pryed from some wreck because they tried doing something you can't do in a FWD.
We have to put up with a lot of this because there are stupid people out there that don't know when to call it quits. But a friendly suggestion to folks like young mr. "Fly Rice Racer" maybe you should figure out a new exhaust design. Something with a butterfly valve somewhere in the end so that when your passing through a neighborhood or a cop is tailing you. You can shut the exhaust down to stock size so that it's muffled and you have less reason to get pulled over. You mentioned something about being distraught from financial woes. Maybe that will help? Think about it. Is it worth putting a little more money out to keep away from more tickets and run in's with your favorite local law authority?
