Usually if I'm out of change I'll call the toll authority and offer to pay -- or, if it's available, I will go to the full service lane and they usually have envelopes so you can send in the toll later.

The important question is.....did you get a citation for violating the toll?


If so, see if you can straighten it out with the toll authority now, before you have to go to court. If not, you'll have to go to court and explain to the judge, [unless you can plead guilty and send in the fine]

Bottom line from the law's point of view is that you ran the toll....
