Absolute.
It's bolted to the flywheel starter ring gear. Always in motion.
Neutral, and Park just reroute the oil pressure.
Your shift lever is operating valves, that oil pressure applies to clutches.
The oil circuit is quite complex. Difficult to follow path, similar to a integrated circuit card.
