Don't redo it - there are easier solutions! Airbrushing some acrylic clear flat over the interior will take the shine off nicely. It will still be red, but more in an interior of an Italian car kinda way than a tart's bedroom kinda way (especially if you don't leave her bra in the backseat).

Don't worry much about the 'out of scale metal flake' issue. It turns out to be impossible (or near enough to be impractical) to make paint with in scale flakes. Grinding the flakes another order of magnitude smaller would make the paint behave and appear significantly different. And generally if large flakes are visible, it's much more an artifact of the photography than of the paint.
