A similar issue happened to me when I owned a 1985 Camry. the car would start up and idle but if I put it in gear or if I would try to rev the engine the car engine would die. it would start right up though.
after replacing many, many,many parts on it
I was in the process of replacing the fuel pump and discovered the electronic fuel pump had a 99% clogged fuel strainer/filter on it.
once I replaced the filter/strainer the problem solved. I had to drop the gas tank to get at the electronic fuel pump. no access to it by removing the back seat.
Hopefully you won't have to drop the gas tank. What a PITA job that was.
