I have been wanting to do a black car for a long time. I wasn't sure what I wanted to make and what configuration until I stumbled upon this pic while looking for reference pics and rims.

Disregard the fact it is a Dodge Viper SRT (I'll be making one of these too!) I loved the look of it and decided I'd try and capture it. First with the C6 and then with the SRT.
So, I broke out the C6 kit and prepped it.
I used Auto primer which I rubbed back between coats with 800/1200 grit and each subsequent layer of primer is more thinned than the previous.
Then it's on with the Acrylic Lacquer. Jet Black is the colour of choice. Laid in 3-4 coats and again, rubbing back between coats. The final coat was also rubbed back to remove any texture and dirt etc.
After that, I applied Auto Acrylic Clear Lacquer. I applied 3 coats with the last two coats again, slightly more thinned than the previous. This had some texture and dirt etc in the clear, so I polished it out. I used 800/1200/2400/3200/3600/6000/8000/10000&12000 grit. 3200 onwards is the Detail Master polishing kit. Once this was done. The surface had a slight haze. Next I used a product called Formula 1 Scratch Out. It's great for polishing out scratches and haze. However, I just picked up some Mother's Plastic Polish which really made the difference. The roof and body were finished using this. The front hood wasn't , so you can see some minor scratches showing up when you catch the light. Oh well, next time. I finished off the body using a liquid wax that I had. I had finished polishing and cleaning up at around 2.30 am this morning..D'OH...LOL(The things we do for our hobby). The Carbnuba wax (Model Treatment wax) I had was dried, so I will get some more next week. The body is not totally finished and need some more touch up and clean up before being ready to be mated to the chassis.
I had to do a Hero shot(I absolutely loved Phil Curtis's self portrait on his Carerra GT that I wanted to do one similar.

)
This is the goal.
I have sourced some rims that I can modify to suit 1/25th scale and use it for this Vette and the Dodge Viper SRT that I will also do in Jet black as per the pic.
Hope you guys like the pics.
