Fixed it! For those sitting at the edge of their seat... it was becuase the plastic clip was designed to grap onto the door panel as well as the insulation behined it. My insulation had flopped over and wasn't pinned behined the clip anymore, giving the control panel a 1/4" of room to wiggle around. I knew I wasn't crazy...
