There is no tach wire under the dash. Help us out, we're not psychic here - what do you drive? Most coil-in-cap and some external coil HEI distributors have a tach lead on them - if you have an external coil HEI (1987-1993), you will see a thick, pink wire that connects to the coil - if there is a thin white lead on the same connector that tapes off into nowhere, this is the tach lead. If there is no white wire, there is no tach lead. If you have a coil-in-cap HEI (1975-1986), there is a tach lead to the left of the BAT lead on the cap itself.
