yes. best left to a GOOD garage and mechanic. I did. Do this before it dies, as I did at 20 yrs of starter service, before our -30c winter lilled it. Mechanic said he removed right side of crossmember tranny support, with support to tranny, to let it drop an inch, then was able to remove and reinstall new one. 2 hrs labor.
Edit : However, I don't recommend it as front tranny shaft seal has leaked since. Too much pressure on those old hard dry rubber seal rings I guess.
What has helped limit leak a lot is the "Wynns" tranny ring seal rubber rejuvinator fluid added to tranny fluid.
