Does your Explorer have the towing package installed? Maybe the towing package included a larger receiver? Also, check for an auxilliary transmission oil cooler if you are planning to tow this heavy of a boat and you want to give the Explorer a chance at surviving. If you don't have one, consider getting one installed.
Kudos on being one of the seemingly few who actually check the rating of their receiver rather than just assuming it's sufficient!
