Installing a resistor to change the IAT reading won't do much. If it bypasses the sensor, it will be nearly impossible to start the engine when cold. What it probably does is "T" into the signal wire and go to ground, reducing the voltage OR is connected in parallel with the sensor to reduce resistance (increase voltage). That depends on whether it is PTC or NTC (Positive or Negative Temperature Coefficient). If the IAT is higher, the fuel is reduced, but not by much. I don't know exactly what it does, did you try the manufacturer? Something you will want to incorporate is a switch to bypass the resistor so you can start it cold.
