Hey John,
As the other guys have said, there is nothing I know of in 1/24 other than the older resin stuff. It is a bit of a shame, considering that (like NASCAR) it would be simple to produce decal kits to cover many different vehicles - only two cars racing afterall.
I believe that much of the problem lies in licensing. Just recently one of the two companies that have produced V8 Supercars in the past (and it is open to argument whether they did the best diecast) stopped producing current cars due to the cost. They still produce "classic" Australian touring cars, but no current ones. Seems to me that the current head of V8 Supercars fancies himself as a new Bernie Ecclestone, but has negelcted to realise that V8SC is a little series in a little country - on the world scale at least.
As for kitbashing, certainly the Falcons have nothing even remotely close. For the Commodores there is nothing close to the V8 Supercars, but you could take one of the Pontiac GTO kits and convert it to the Monaro that was raced at the Bathurst 24 Hours, for example.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but us Aussie touring car fans must satisfies themselves with the old Group A cars.
Cheers,
Grant.
p.s. hopes this makes sense, but I have just got back from a conference dinner, it is 2am, and I have had more than a reasonable amount of beer
