Your front wheels shouldn't bind when making sharp turns. Your Quadra-Trac transfer case should only lock into 4wd when your rear wheels start to slip/spin and when they do have traction the case should be in 2WD mode and take sharp turns as well as a RWD car. This is common vicious coupler failure of the Quadra-Trac case. In the long run it eats up your front tires and universal joints, not to mention the poor gas mileage.
