* One of many reasons to use primer is to make bare plastic less opaque to simulate sheet metal of a real car, so regardless of brand, I recommend primer.
* Tamiya Spray paint is polishable.
* Use fine graphic pen or mechanical pencil for panel lines.
* The finish is as good as Automotive paint.
* I think it's just a personal taste whether to use enamel or acrylic.
You can achieve fantastic result with either enamel or acrylic, if (here is a tricky part) you get used to one or another, and know how to use it right.
From my experience, enamel takes longer to dry, so I prefer lacquer based acrylic such as Tamiya or GSI spray, as well as GSI, Modeler's, Finisher's etc. They are all lacquer based acrylics.
