Re: Ping & Pong present: Two VERY Red Ferraris

I am working pretty fast (so far) on the Silver Sister but will update only with things that I do differently than with the red version.

First of all though, I corrected my mistake on the red car and re-painted the headlight fittings the correct color.

To speed things up and help simplify some of the fit issues, this one is going to be a “light” version and is engine and differential frei

Just the bottom part of the engine will be fitted as there is a small part of it visible through the underside panel. The lack of differential at the rear should also solve to a large degree the fit issue between chassis, interior tub and body at the rear of the car

also, being curbside, it allows me to cut off the source of the bad hood fit and glue it shut

I experimented with some pre-shading on the upholstery using a pigment marker .

Ultimately the effect is very subtle as I was a little heavy handed with the color coats but it did actually „work”. Tthe 1/1 had a black interior which would have saved a loooad of maskimg but I wanted to try a custom color instead.

I am using the rotors from the Lioan Loar p/e set on this car. They have a curious design (the calipers are a “sandwich” of 6 pieces) but they actually look very good. Another advantage of these rotors is that they will allow you to easily fix Revell’s biggest mistake in the kit – the brake calipers being the wrong way round (I won’t be doing this though as I don’t want the 2 cars to be glaringly different in this respect).

Cheers
