Ive seen those Air Filters with heat shields on heaps of cars in New Zealand. In NZ they are made by Simolta. They did a test in a car magazine.They ran a car on a dyno with no airfilter and measured performance. Then they ran it with different brands of air filter. The simolta one was one of the best, only reducing the power output by a kw or so. Lots of cars i have seen tape some ducting pipe onto the heat shield and run it to a point at the front of the car behind the spoiler or grille. This way they can get cold air directly from the front of the car. Ive heard it works really well.
