you are right LS/vtec or CR-Vtec isn't that reliable. I think in the long run you would want the b20 because there is of the more displacement and would be a better platform to work with. and since the lower compression you can put more boost up to it. I would just rather put lower compression pistons in it aways. the reason why its compression is lower is becuase of the stroke, but if you dont want to build the bottom end then get the b20. I would suggest you build the bottom end while you got the motor out of the car. New headgasket, timing belt water pump and tune up etc should go with as well. I hope that gives you a second opinion and good luck with your swap!
