From what I've heard if you protest and get a court date and cop dont show, your case gets dropped instantly. So what my friend did before was reschedule a couple of times...I think that was the max in moving court dates..anyway, he made up some excuse and the 3rd time, cop didnt bother showing up and he got his ticket dropped. Only drawback, if you protest a ticket, you become ineligible for traffic school and if you lose, then its a point against your record.
