Sounds like the water pump alright based on location.
Being someone who has experienced the joys of coolant loss from varios parts, I'd suggest replacing all your hoses and thermostat at the same time.
If the pump is going, there's a chance the hoses are getting old - ever seen how fast a raddiator can drain with a pinprick hole in a heater hose etc? Damn fast
