I have a Japanese imported 94 MR2 GTS Turbo (3rd generation 3S-GTE). In Australia, we have 180SX's, Silvia's and 200SX's (the S13's are similar to a 240SX with an SR20). Determining which car would be faster (MR2 or 240SX), would depend on which SR20 your friend has. Back when my car was stock, I raced an S15 Silvia (Jap spec), and it seemed to be a dead even match, but when dragging earlier S13 Silvia's and 180SX's, I would usually end up slightly in front. I think that the 3rd Gen 3S-GTE and S15 spec SR20-DET are pretty evenly matched, with both engines being rated at around about the 240hp mark.
