Yup, hes right. Maintain that engine. Oil changes, proper fuel, dont let it sit to long, remember to run it every once and a while. Have your regular checkups and remember to replace all of your belts, bells and whistles at 20,000 just to make sure there is no reason for them to break. Keep it clean too, go to Pep Boys and pick up some of that engine cleaner. The cleaner your engine is, the more likely it is to disapate heat into the hood and run at slightly lower temperatures... remember high revs. If its a manual, the engine will have less strain on it and probably last longer as well... mine is a manual because it provides more power.
