Ok - I have the tests to answer this. If you have just done H/E then it will make no difference at the treads but will sound better. That's it, a big fat zero. If you have gone cams/cam wheels and compression it may make a little difference - 1-2KW. You do not bolt it on and get instant horsepower. It's one of those things that shows a difference as a sum of the other mods that you have done to the engine.
I found this out when I tried a VTiR CAI (VTiR is your EK series Si) on my SiR - no perceptable difference at the treads compared to the stock box with a high-flow (7% better airflow over stock) re-usable filter in it. Now maybe the SiR has better air pickup than the USDM spec cars and that's the difference - but bang for buck I'd go an insert unless you turbocharge etc.
Just my 10c - others will disagree - I'd just suggest going in with your eyes open and not expecting to lose 2/10ths off your 1/4 times as a result.
