The basic morals and standards by which we deem ourselves to be a 'civilised society' are gradually being eroded by our own salacious curiosity.We watch the vilest of acts on the television,at the movies,and on our computers without batting an eyelid.We read of the cruelest of acts and the most unneccesary of violence in our daily paper,and in cheap and trashy novels,and believe that the entire world will simply accept it as entertainment.
Sadly there is an increasing portion of the community,who venerate such acts of ruthless selfishness,for whom violence is not only a means to an end,but an incidental gratification to be savoured along the way.It is time to decide what we want and need for entertainment,and reclaim the boundary between harmless escapism and self-fulfilling prophesies of misery.
Call it censorship,grizzle all you like,but the people at the dangerous and impressionable end of the spectrum need to to prevented from accessing the propaganda that they are now enacting on the rest of us.
