Maybe the reason there is no procedure in the Tips & Maint directory is because of the ease GM's great design of changing out the front/rear pads & rotors on 97-03 GPs. IMO, what a cake job to swap out pads & rotors on the GP!
Experience wise, in my case on my 98 & 99 GPs, I found the pads with out anti-squeal compound on the piston side of the pads and installed the new ones the way I found the old ones installed. The FSM says you're supposed to burnish the rears after new ones are installed, but I didn't bother and haven't experienced any squealing noises.
