Just some of my observances...

Torque below 2500rpm is practically non-existant. Don't bother launching below here. you might as well just start at 700rpm idle
Decent torque starts coming into play on GS-R's about 3750 rpm and above. Type-R's probably 4200 and above. This is probably your ideal drop zone, unless you've made significant modifications to your vehicle.
(not like you're going to race with the A/C on, but...) The A/C compressor clutch fully locks in at about 3500 rpm. For the sake of keeping accessories from giving you a bogging feeling, make sure to drop above 3500 rpm.

If you're using roughly-stock sized wheels with good tires, you'll want to drop at ~4000rpm and maintain 4000 rpms (NOT slam the gas to WOT) until you're almost completely gripped with the road. On the crap Michelin XGT v4's, if you WOT it before you come to full grip, you'll lose grip and just spin again. If you've got 17's that grip like crazy, you may be able to punch it to WOT earlier. Just depends on your wheels, tires, and torque
