Re: VSS Replacement Question
Thanks for the hint with the motor mount..A shop charges by a book even if they find short cuts along the way.. Some of the short cuts can be bad and some good. I don't see a problem with what they did but labor hours on a job are backed by SAE to one protect customers and protect auto mechanics. Since I work most of the time for free so I never have unhappy clients and also friends. Most of the time I can't do real big jobs so I help out by sending to someone they can trust. You can ask to see the labor hour rate for this job. Thats your right!!! For new Auto mechanics the hour labor rate can be hard on them until they learn some of the tricks of the trade. In other words the mechanics got to make money and the shop has to make money. So if it took them 4 hours to repair a car and the job labor rate is 3 hours, the mechanic lost an hours pay. If it took him 1 hour for that same job then he did well.. Long as the jobs done right. SO really the labor hour rate is a little higher than what a skilled mechanic should take to do the job.. So what you are suppose to be paying for is skill and quality work.. So if you think it was high you can ask to see what the book calls for in labor hours.
