Do not bother replacing it on your own. Get a pro to do it. Around here, glass installers will do it for $75 cash, if you supply the new glass.

In the good old days, it was easy, up to the early '80's. Most windshields, especially the domestics were held in place by butyl tape. This was easy to cut with a windshield cutter (looks like piano wire) and easy to install.

However, most windshields since then are held in by urethane sealer which requires specialized equipment to remove. It is almost impossible to remove a windshield with ordinary tools without the risk of breakage and personal injury.

Finally, the windshield is a safety item and should be installed by a pro so it does not fall out, break, etc, especially when you are driving.
