Is it for competition use? If so there should be a specs list which tells you all the suitable materials.
Otherwise it depends on your intended use more than anything else. Some applications where weight is a priority dictate that you use higher strength steel with thinner walls and/or smaller pipe.
Other applications where rigidity is the main concern, there may be no point in going to a higher strength material.
