Usually these track events are not competitive. Meaning, no passing unless the other guy yields and lets you buy on a straight, no aggressive driving, no hair pulling and eye poking.

They are pretty safe and as long as you don't let ego get the better of you, it should be really safe.
It's hella fun and will be the most fun you have with your car. Damn I raced on stock wheels and tires last week and still had a blast. Don't worry about your car breaking. If you do break something if it's like past events I've heard about you'll have about 4 monkeys under your car going to work before you even get back to the pits.
