If you can post a picture, that would help. As for the HVAC problem, The PCV valve is located on the left rocker arm cover. On the PCV valve connector, there is a vacuum Tee with a 1/8" black, plastic line that routes across the front of the engine and connects to another vacuum tee near the A/C accumulator. The hose dries out and breaks. The HVAC system defaults to the defrost position if the system looses vacuum. Most auto parts stores have vacuum line that will fit tightly over the original line, (as a splice repair) or to the vacuum tees themselves and totally repalce the line.
