Having worked with explosive detonators in the past I was wondering if static is a risk while working on airbags and I found some links that say yes. One guy says he wears a ground strap but he ties himself to his homes ground. I'm thinking you should tie yourself to the cars ground which is the airbags reference. The cars isolated on tires and knows nothing about your house ground. I also know from working on electronics just touching ground doesn't work so I'm going to strap myself to the cars ground while removing the bag. Thoughts?
Last question and sorry for the serial posts but I've got to fix this tomorrow. This car has tilt steering and does it matter with respect to taking the wheel off and changing the switch? One link seemed to say you have to mess around removing pivot pins with a special tool. My manual doesn't mention pivot pins in reference to the switch change out.
