Depends what you're wanting out of the car. If you're hoping to mod it and get alot of HP out of it, then it's going to be alot of work which would almost be as difficult as swapping in a V8, minus pulling the engine and tranny. The 3.4 is really just a good daily driver. There are people out there modding them (I personally have just basic bolt-ons), but like I said, it depends what you wan't out of the engine. It's going to take alot of money, time, and patience to see some impressive numbers and be able to to keep up with and beat some V8's.
The easiest and most cost effective way to get some good numbers would be to just trade the car in for a Z28 or SS which already have 5.7's in them. Otherwise if you just want it for a reliable daily driver, then it's very suitable.
