Thank you busboy. I think that can certainly explain it regarding my case too. Considering one has to remove the tank to fix this, I'd just keep the fuel tank more than 1/2 mark for now.

However, I did have a friend with a GM sedan that did exactly the same thing, so they always kept the fuel above 3/8. When they did have it repaired it turned out that "pick up" line for the fuel pump had a small crack near the top. When the fuel level was lower and the car was turning, the pump would suck air from the crack (which was temporarily above the fuel level) and the car would stall.
Perhaps you are dealing with something similar.
