Decided to introduce the new car after selling the old car, as I was venturing into getting a MKIV Supra. Went for a ride in a 566 rwhp/500 ish rwtq, 2,600 lbs, stock bottom end, daily drivable 951...and well, I'm back in another one
Finally picked up another black '86 to combat the withdrawl after selling my old one back in March. This one is completely unmolested, exterior and interior are near-flawless(the dash doesn't even have any cracks...which is BEYOND rare).
Maintence/repair records since birth came with the car. The best thing is that it seems it was waiting for me to find it, as it already has rear wiper delete, no cruise control, no door bumper strips, and clutch was done less than 30,000 miles ago(which, I have already done a clutch change on jack stands. With the engine in front and the transaxle in the rear, it makes for a very NOT fun job.) Being an '86...its the only year of the turbo that they came without ABS or air bags...meaning less things for me to take off
Build plans are going to be extensive as, given the condition of the car, I want to make this one of the nicest 951's in the country. Suspension, braking, wider wheels, safety and instrumentation will be addressed first alongside modern aesthetic upgrades as well as minor performance bolt ons to get it past specs of the 951 S.
Then will be a staged attack as I do breathing/ exhaust, fuel/ignition, turbo upgrade, cooling, drivetrain(hopefully adding a 968 6-speed tranny to the mix), top end, and ending with a 3.0L build based on the factory 2.5L block with turbo upgrade.
Currently in storage for the winter as that time of year is coming and I am on the road 4-5 wks at a time anyway. I look forward to giving updates as I'm excited to get started.
