My wore out 93 accord runs a 17 flat and its a auto.... But I have done a few things and haven't been to a 1/4 track lately.... But on a fun note.. I beat a 98 lude at the 1/8 track!!!!! he was auto with the sports shifter and exaust.... But I won thats all that matters!!!!!

Magazines such as car and driver and road & track, use life-throttle shifts while road testing cars. They dont powerbrake ecessively, and beat on equipment. This is probably why you can achieve faster times if you drive a car the way that it was not designed to be driven. Car and Driver is not a performace magazine geared towards cranking every last horsepower out of a car--nor is it geared towards shaving a few tenths off of a timeslip. As far as their credibility goes, I trust their info more than your friend's.
