Also, checked it out. Most of the Speed3s are hitting peak power around 5500rpm at 91 octane. Doubt that my 93 adds more than, I dunno, .000025 at the wheels, but after some scientific (read, following a couple nicely done FCs at the last RX7club this past weekend), she'll pull nice and hard all the way to about 6300-6400.
And I read it wrong. Mazda told C&D to drop clutch at 2900 rpm (so 3k), stay on, no lift shift into second and third. According to C&D, they did this quite a few times (I coulda sworn it said 30 times jsut for shits and giggles) and it held up just fine.
In other news, a buddy of mine said that a recent test has the Speed3 lapping Laguna Seca by a half second faster than the S2K. Looks like I'm gonna have to learn how to drive it here, lol.

we use 93 octane here in florida cause of the heat.
2900 rpm drop sounds about right.
