The 87 & 88 Fieros have the "second gereration" head light motors. If you do a internet search on rodneydickman he has rebuild kits for what usually ails the motors at about $10. The internal plastic bearings turn to dust and the motor is unable to lift the door. Rodney rebuild kits have detailed directions. The driver's side motor is a little more difficult than the passenger side.
The easiest way is to remove the complete headlight assembly (four nuts) and unplug, then take it inside to a table and work on them.
