Re: Help - Clunk noise when hitting bumps
I had to take off both driveshafts when I replaced my clutch and that was a real pain. First of all the lower ball joints were so stuck they were almost impossible to separate even with a heavy duty puller (pitman arm puller), and when I went to put them back in the splined ends that go into the hub were so tight I could barely get them back in. I actually damaged a boot putting one of them back and now it has split open and thrown grease everywhere. So I have to replace it or at least throw a new boot on it. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to get the splined end of the shaft back into the hub, please let me know. Anyway, in answer to your question, you can do it but if your car is anywhere as old as mine (I have a 91) it is not easy.
