You have to take the door handle off before the door skin will come off. When you lift up on the handle, as if to open the door, there will be two small plastic inserts visible by looking up at the bottom of the door handle. These keep the door handle from sliding sideways, and coming off of the mechanism. You have to remove the plastic inserts. On my 92 you remove them by pushing the tiny center 'pin' in, until it falls out the far side. Then you can work the plastic inserts back and out - needle nose pliers or tweezers would help. Then you can slide the door handle sideways and it will come out. Sounds hokey, but it works.
