OK...I just finished ths job and answered my own question. It is very easy to push the caliper piston in without the special tool. All you need is a large C clamp and a big pair of channel locks or vise grips. Position the C clamp with the end that spins freely in the center of the piston. Position the other end right on the bolt that holds the emergeny brake adjustment assembly. Turn down the C clamp til there is just a small amount of pressure on the piston then take your pliers and turn the piston clockwise. It will retract a small amount. Turn the C clamp a little to apply more pressure and turn the piston again clockwise. continue the process until the piston is in far enough to install the new pads. Pretty easy once you get the hang of it!!!!
