no its not on the side. Its right on the top of the tranny and there are two wires connected to it. It doesn't have a bolt attaching it. Its a threaded sending unit that screws into the trans..its basically the only thing screwed into the top of the tranny with wires connected to it...other than the vss you were talking about earlier which is harder to see and on the backside of the tranny
